Complain to NHRC and NCW regarding attack on tribal girl in Thane

Today, Tanaya Thakur, a 2nd year B.A. LL.B. student of Chanakya National Law University, Patna and Aditya Thakur, a Standard XII student of Police Modern School, sent a complaint to the National Human Rights Commission and National Commission for Women asking the two bodies to intervene and enquire in an incident at Thane, where a 19 year old tribal girl was allegedly stripped and her head was tonsured by her in-laws as she married outside her caste to their son. Tanaya and Aditya, in their complaints have said that this incident was a clear cut violation of the human rights of the victim and was also a vicious attack on the dignity and modesty of woman. The brother and sister duo have asked the NHRC and NCW probe into the matter and undertake necessary action in the issue.

It is shocking to see that such incidents of gross violence still happen in times when the whole world is progressing towards modernity. Also, in times when crimes against women are increasing steadily, the perpetrators of such heinous crimes shall be dealt with no mercy.
