BEA elects office bearers, resolves to push for a nationwide insurance for electronic media working journalists
New Delhi, December 21, 2013. The Broadcast Editors’ Association (BEA) unanimously elected it’s office bearers at an AGM held in New Delhi today. Shazi Zaman (ABP News) was re-elected the President of the body and NK Singh (Live India) as the General Secretary. Arnab Goswami (Times Now) was re-elected the Vice President. Deepak Chaurasia (India News) will be Vice President and Supriya Prasad (Aajtak) treasurer of BEA.
A 15 member Executive Committee of the BEA has been constituted comprising Shazi Zaman(ABP News), NK Singh (Live India), Arnab Goswami (Times Now), Deepak Chaurasia (India News), Ashutosh (IBN 7), Sonia Singh (NDTV ), Ajit Anjum (News 24), Vinay Tewari (CNN-IBN), QW Naqwi (India TV), Shailesh Kumar (News Nation), Supriya Prasad (Aajtak), Vinod Kapri (News Express), Dibang (Senior journalist), Satish K Singh (Senior Journalist ), Pranjal Sharma (Senior Journalist).
The BEA also constituted a credentials committee for inducting new members comprising Shailesh Kumar (News Nation), Sanjeev Paliwal (IBN 7) and Supriya Prasad (Aajtak).
The BEA AGM also resolved to push for a nationwide insurance coverage for working journalists of electronic media. It was also decided that in order to encourage quality journalism in television BEA would institute annual awards.
