PIL for inner democracy in political parties

Social activist Dr Nutan Thakur has filed a PIL in Allahabad High Court, Lucknow bench as regards lack of inner democracy in various political parties, including Congress, BJP, SP and BSP.
As per the petition, Election Commission registers political parties under section 29A of the Representation of People’s Act 1951. Every political party has provisions in their Party Constitution for elections of their National, State and District Presidents and other office bearers. In contrast, almost all office bearers are directly “appointed” by the Party High Command, against the Constitution formed under section 29A.

Hence Dr Thakur has prayed for directing the Election Commission to ensure compliance of their Constitution by various political parties.
