Ahmedabad, January 7, 2015: Ashok Kunverji Shah, Chairman, V-Trans (I) Ltd, a major transport & logistics services group and an ISO 9001:2008 Company was felicitated on 6th January 2015 for his immense contribution to the transport industry, society & knowledge sharing at various platforms. The function titled ‘Jewels of Gujarat’ held on the eve of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2015 saw the felicitation of global Gujarati personalities for their yeoman service to building Indian industry.

Commenting on the recognition, Ashok Shah said, “It is undoubtedly an honour to receive this award and I am humbled by this recognition bestowed on me. Such felicitations drive one to strive for greater excellence thereby raising the bar. It is a testament to the work we have put in together as a team and also the fact that we keep innovating and add more value towards our customers’ business. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our customers, employees and all other stakeholders for their commitment and support.”

V-Trans was started by Ashok Shah’s father, Kunverji K. Shah & uncle, Visanji K. Shah in 1958 as Vijay Transport Co. Ltd. Ashok Shah joined Vijay Transport in 1969 and started practically learning all aspects of the business, right from driving, loading unloading to interfacing with the Clients. Due to his sharp business acumen he was given the challenging task of heading the company in 1978. Ashok Shah always thought ahead of times and so after realizing the potential of integration, in mid-1990’s the group of small entities came together to form a single integrated group with him as the Chairman. Challenges came forth like competition from foreign players; economic slowdown thereby triggering cost cutting at Client’s end etc. but Ashok Shah ensured that the Group is prepared to overcome all those eventualities. In early 2000, under his leadership, the company undertook the campaign of adopting a new corporate identity and restructuring the company. This proved to be a turning point in the company’s history and its growth as with various divisions the group positioned itself as a single window solution provider.

His almost 5 decades of experience in the industry has earned him many accolades and also positions he held in various trade body associations as well as social organizations. For the coming years, Ashok Shah is focused on what the Group needs to achieve – operational efficiencies, overcoming shortages & damages, scheduled runs, raising the service standards bar, reducing vehicle turnaround time etc.
